Game Notes

#24 Demon Deacons deny Tar Heels' late rally to win 24-17.

Jon Abbate intercepts Joe Dailey in the end zone with :41 left after North Carolina had driven to the 3-yard line, helping Wake Forest go to 7-1 for the 1st time since 1979. It was a fitting end for the Deacs' defense which forced 3 turnovers, and held Ronnie McGill to just 17 yards rushing after allowing him to gain 100 yards in the 1st half.

Wake Forest rallies from a 17-14 deficit in the 2nd half. With a one-dimensional offense, or 1-person offense, the Demon Deacons struggle for much of the game. Wake's 1st TD comes on a blocked punt, and Kenneth Moore delivers the other 2, with a 34-yard run and a 39-yard TD catch from Riley Skinner to take the lead early in the 4th quarter.

Moore has 6 of Wake's 7 catches for 82 yards, and accounts for 116 total yards.
