Orlando Watters returns punt 71 yards for a TD, cutting Tennessee's lead to 2, but Arkansas fails on the two-point conversion w/ 2:28 remaining. However, the Razorbacks recover the onside kick, then drive for Todd Wright's 41-yard FG w/ :02 left. Wright is the improbable hero, hitting 4 of 5 FG attempts after making just 4 of 10 entering the game.

Wright's 3rd FG opens a 16-7 lead w/ 9:26 left in the 3rd. However, the Volunteers rally behind Heath Shuler, who scores on a pair of runs. His 1-yard keeper w/ 10:28 left in the game gives Tennessee a 24-16 lead. Charlie Garner rushes for 97 yards on 20 carries for the Volunteers.
