Game Notes

Pennsylvania All-Stars rally in the 2nd half to light up Ohio in a 61-42 win.

Trailing 28-14 after Derrell Johnson (Iowa) scores on a 48-yard sprint, Pennsylvania runs off 34 straight points.

Pat Devlin (Penn State) suffers INTs on 2 of his first 3 throws, and Thaddeus Gibson (Ohio State) recovers a fumble setting up Ohio for a 10-0 lead on a 21-yard TD run by Delone Carter (Syracuse) and 25-yard FG by David Brewer (West Virginia). However, Pennsylvania and Devlin answer back in a preview of big plays to come. Devlin hits Aaron Berry (Pitt) on an 81-yard TD pass w/ 8:38 left in the 2nd quarter.

Mike Scherpenberg (Grand Valley State) comes back with a 39-yard TD pass to Johnson. But Pennsylvania's respose is a 38-yard TD pass from future Michigan State teammates, Conner Dixon to Dave Williams. Dixon starts Pennsylvania's 2nd half surge with a 56-yard TD run. Then after Elijah Fields (Pitt) forces a fumble, and Greg Webster (Pitt) recovers, Devlin hits Williams on a 25-yard TD pass that cuts it to 28-27.

Fields then gets the 1st of his 2 INTs, setting up a 32-yard halfback pass from DaRel Scott (Maryland) to Williams that gives Pennsylvania a 33-28 lead. Devlin follows up another turnover with a 13-yard TD run, and then Dixon hits Scott for a 77-yard TD that opens a 47-28 lead for Pennsylvania. Scott's 4-yard TD run caps the 40-point run.

Both teams cap the game with several more highlights. Carter breaks loose for a 78-yard TD run, capping a 193-yard rushing performance for the Ohio All-Stars. Johnson, however, grabs the game MVP with 138 yards rushing and 118 yards passing. But Johnson does suffer an INT by Fields who returns it 66 yards for a TD.

Williams is the Pennsylvania MVP with 3 catches for 95 yards and 3 TDs. Devlin goes 4-of-7 for 119 yards, while Dixon is 5-of-8 for 155 yards and 2 TDs, while leading Pennsylvania with 44 yards rushing.
