Game Notes

Southlake-Carroll starts another year in dominating fashion, beating Midland-Lee 48-25.

The Dragons won for the 48th time in 49 games as Alabama-bound Greg McElroy completes 20-of-33 passes for 325 yards and 3 TDs in his 1st start. BYU-bound WR McKay Jacobson catches 8 passes for 148 yards and 2 TDs.

Midland-Lee takes a 3-0 lead while its defense keeps Carroll out of the end zone early, but the Dragons keep moving, rolling up 536 yards, and eventually piling up the points. McElroy scores on a 1-yard sneak in the second quarter, then connects with Jacobson on 2 straight scores to take control. McElory adds another TD pass before halftime, helping Carroll lead 28-10.

The Rebels feature RB Trent Hines, a Texas A&M-commit, who has 136 total yards. But QB Brandon Williamson can never get the passing game going with Texas A&M-recruit Terrence McCoy. Midland-Lee also includes DT Leslie Ray, another Aggies recruit and TCU-bound TE Evan Frosch, K/P Aaron Esikhati (Arkansas-Pine Bluff).

The Dragons also have safety Joseph Agnew (Rice), G Mike Prince (Missouri), WR Corbin Smiter (Rice), Evan Fentress (Rice), Clint Renfro (TCU), OL Justin Drescher (Colorado), LB Patrick Benoist (Vanderbilt), junior G Robert Hill (Utah State), junior DE Kyle Russo (North Texas), junior LB Justin Padron (North Texas), junior LB Bryce Saldi (UNLV), sophomore backup QB Riley Dodge (Texas), sophomore RB Tre Newton (Texas).
