Armwood's defense keeps gunslinger Stephen Garcia (South Carolina) out of the end zone, forcing a pair of FGs and several turnovers to hang on to the Hawks' #1 Class 4A state ranking. Garcia connects with WR Evan Cromer (Eastern Kentucky) 9 times, but the Dragons' offense can't capitalize.

After Tito Zumbado gives Jefferson a lead with his 20-yard FG, RB Deondre Kyles (Middle Tennessee State) shifts the momentum back to Armwood, returning the ensuing KO 95 yards for a TD. Justin Hickman (VMI) extends the lead to 13-3 scoring on a 2-yard keeper before halftime.
