Game Notes

Oaks Christian Lions rout St. Bonaventure 59-13, dominating from beginning to end.

RB/LB Marc Tyler (USC) and QB Jimmy Clausen (Notre Dame) justify their hype. Tyler, son of UCLA/NFL star Wendell Tyler, rushes for 271 yards and 5 TDs. Clausen goes 17-of-27 for 224 yards and 2 TDs.

However, Oaks Christian displays more than just its 2 stars, as S/WR/RB Marshall Jones (USC) contributes 74 yards on offense, returns kicks for 71 yards and has 1 INT. WR/S Sean Wiser (Stanford) has 5 catches for 79 yards and also an INT. Junior WR/DB Chris Potter (Boise State) adds 59 yards on offense, and 61 yards on punt returns.

Clausen dominates the 1st quarter before Tyler takes over. Clausen starts the scoring with a 15-yard TD pass to Wiser, and then following a 13-yard TD run by Tyler, connects with Potter on a 2-point conversion for a 14-0 lead. Clausen extends the lead to 21-0 with a 40-yard TD pass to junior WR Christopher Owusu (Stanford).

The Seraphs have a brief momentum when Antonio Macarena hits super soph WR Patrick Hall (USC) for a 38-yard TD pass early in the 2nd quarter. Hall has 142 yards on offense.

However, behind a line that includes G Cory Yriarte (Boise State), DE/OT Michael Ebbitt (Texas A&M) and DE/OT Duke Lemmens (Florida), Tyler dominates. Tyler answers with a 73-yard TD run, then adds a 1-yarder before halftime for a 38-7 lead. He adds 2 more TDs in the 2nd half.

Oaks Christian also includes LB Casey Matthews (Oregon), CB Anthony Gildon (Oregon) and DT Tommy Grillo (UC-Davis). Matthews, son of NFL star Clay Matthews, has 16 tackles leading the defense.

St. Bonaventure includes LB/TE Blaine Irby (Texas), S Michael Williams (Michigan), CB Glen Wakam (Princeton), junior OT Vaughn Dotsy (Arizona), junior DE Ryan Medina (Cal Poly).
