Valley Vikings overcome Shady Side Academy 7-0 in a defensive battle.

The Vikings get a 43-yard TD run by Darwin Banks w/ 9:00 left in the 4th quarter to break a tie, and then Banks forces a fumble and makes an interception to maintain Valley's lead. Banks finishes with 67 yards rushing to carry Valley's offense after the Indians hold down star WR/S Toney Clemons (Michigan).

Shady Side's attack takes a big hit late in the 1st half when junior QB Dan Rooney, latest of the Pittsburgh Steeler's Rooney clan, goes out with a shoulder injury. Rooney was 0-of-5, but carried the Indians' offense with his scrambling and rollouts.
