Game Notes

East dominates the West in a 27-16 victory behind MVP Chris Wells' 3 TD runs.

Wells (Ohio State) gets the East on top with a 2-yard TD run in the 1st quarter, and finishes with 67 yards on 13 carries. The West evens it on a 22-yard TD pass from Jevan Snead (Texas/Ole Miss) to Deon Beasley (Texas). Snead finishes with 146 yards passing.

Wells puts the East up 13-7 with a 5-yard TD run w/ 9:29 left in the 3rd quarter. Kai Forbath (UCLA) pulls the West to within 13-10 w/ a 37-yard FG following a 72-yard punt return by Chris Caflisch (Texas A&M). But Wells extends the lead with a 4-yard TD run early in the 4th quarter.

The East puts it away when LB Brandon Graham (Michigan) blocks a FG, and CB Raeshon McNeal (Notre Dame) returns it 65 yards for a TD. Snead adds a 9-yard TD pass to Terrence Austin (UCLA) in the closing minutes.

The East defense gets strong performances by McNeal, who has an excellent performance in coverage, and ends Robert Rose (Ohio State) and Maurice Evans (Penn State). The West defense is lead by disruptive DT Gerald McCoy (Oklahoma), DE Eddie Jones (Texas) and safety Stafon Johnson (USC).
