Douglas County Huskies deny Mullen a repeat title, rolling to their first state championship with a 35-13 win.

The Huskies jump on the Mustangs early, then hold on in the 2nd half. Andy Muns (Northern Colorado) runs for 231 yards and 2 TDs. Muns gives Douglas County the quick lead with a 2-yard TD run. Then Keifer Garton follows with an 11-yard TD pass to TE Steven Fendry (Colorado) for a 14-0 lead in the 1st quarter. Garton goes 8-of-13 for 108 yards, 2 TDs, 2 INTs and runs for another TD.

Mullen closes to 14-7 on a 3-yard TD run by junior Phillip Morelli (Colorado State) w/ 7:17 left in the 2nd Q. But Muns responds with a 72-yard TD run, and Garton connects with Josh Rodriguez on a 29-yard TD for a 28-7 lead at the half.

The Mustangs cut it to 28-13 on 1-yard keeper by junior Justin Brewster (Minnesota). Brewster goes 12-of-23 for 118 yards and 2 TDs. However, Mullen's remaining opportunities to close the gap end when Brewster is intercepted in the end zone twice, and sacked on a 4th down by junior LB Luke Diehl (Colorado State).

Douglas County also includes G/DT Eric Lawson (Colorado), offensive linemen Joel Fassler (Northern Colorado) and Tim McGraw (Northern Colorado) and junior OT Ethan Adkins (Colorado).
