Game Notes

Trinity Catholic Celtics survive for crazy 37-30 victory, that denies Pahokee its 3rd straight state championship.

The Celtics win despite losing a 30-7 lead, being outgained 581 yards to 155, and allowing a state-championship record 502 yards passing by the Blue Devils' Robert Love (Florida A&M).

Junior Rudell Small (Jacksonville University) provides the winning score with a 69-yard TD run after Pahokee had tied with the game w/ 6:46 remaining in the game. Prior to the possession, Trinity Catholic had just 72 yards total offense despite having put up 30 points.

After Love opened the score with a 50-yard TD pass, the Celtics battle back, taking a lead 10-7 on Bradley Grant's 6-yard TD run, 2 plays after a fumble recovery. Following a short punt, Trinity Catholic takes advantage of field position again as junior John Brantley (Florida) hits Courtney Graham for a 36-yard TD pass.

Another fumble sets up Small's 19-yard TD run and a 24-7 Celtics' lead, and an interception early in the 3rd quarter preceeds Grant's 1-yard TD run.

Then Pahokee's rally begins. Love answers with a 51-yard TD pass to S/WR Tamarcus Porter (Pitt). The following possession has Love connecting with CB/WR Nikita White (Florida A&M) on a 57-yard TD pass that pulls the Blue Devils to within 30-19.

Love continues, hitting sophomore Martavious Odoms (Michigan) on a 78-yard bomb, followed by a 2-point conversion to Porter that cuts it 30-27.

Love finishes 23-of-37 for 502 yards, 4 TDs with 1 INT. Brantley goes 6-of-20 for 88 yards and 1 TD. Small runs for 99 yards on 9 carries.
