Junior quarterback Andrew Perkins runs for 3 TDs and goes 7-of-8 for 146 yards. Brandon Kendrick runs for 76 yards and adds 2 TDs. Perkins and Kendrick each score in the 1st quarter on short runs giving Hickman a 14-0 lead. Perkins' 14-yard TD run in the 2nd quarter extends it to 21-0.

The Spartans finally strike late in the first half when Carl Word hits Gerald Fulton for a 20-yard TD pass on the final play of the 2nd quarter. Word hits 17-of-25 but for just 117 yards and star receiver Chris Brooks (Nebraska) has just 56 yards on his 9 catches.

The Spartans also include OT/DT Anthony Jackson (Arkansas State) and sophomore RB Thomas Merriweather (Miami O.), sophomore FB William Anderson (Arkansas State).
