DeSmet Spartans come out on top over Hazelwood Central 48-31 in an offensive show.

Tommy Corwin (Central Missouri) throws for a Missouri championship-record 482 yards and 3 TDs, while running for another, and the Spartans roll up a record 635 total yards. Sophomore star WR Wes Kemp (Missouri) catches 11 passes for a state record 246 yards.

The Hawks strike fast when junior Marvin McNutt (Iowa) hits WR/CB Kenny Sims (Tulsa) with a 78-yard TD pass on the game's 3rd play, and Hazelwood Central grabs a quick 9-0 lead. However, DeSmet scores the next 28 points before entering a pattern of trading scores with the Hawks.

The Spartans cut it to 9-6 on Corwin's 72-yard TD pass to Rob Witzl. Then Corwin connects with Munir Prince (Notre Dame) for an 11-yard TD pass, followed by a 27-yard TD run by Prince. Prince rushes for 118 yards.

DeSmet also includes OT/TE Paddy Mullen (Notre Dame), and freshman star CB Devin King (8 tackles).
