Game Notes

St. Peter's Prep Marauders rally, leave Don Bosco Prep stunned 22-15.

St. Peter's captures its first state title in 11 years, erasing a 15-0 deficit created by a series of mistakes early in the game. Andrew Booth picks Ironmen junior QB Matt Simms (Louisville) and returns it 65 yards for a TD, breaking a 15-15 tie w/ 3:32 left in the game. Then RB/CB Kee-Ayre Griffin (Temple) intercepts Simms at the 2-yard line after Simms drives Don Bosco toward a potential tying score.

The Ironmen have chances to blow out the Marauders early. WR/DB Ryan Lindsey (Boston College) blocks a pair of punts, and a bad snap in the end zone also results in a safety. Yet Don Bosco only manages a 5-0 lead. Junior Guy Germinario's 7-yard TD run and sophomore Brian Hanly's (Hofstra) 42-yard FG off the crossbar push the lead to 15-0.

St. Peter's finally shows life after a shuttle pass from stud soph QB/S Will Hill to Griffin results in a 48-yard gain, and sets up Hill's 1-yard score on a keeper with 1:58 left in the 1st half. The Marauders pull even on a Sean Boysen's 44-yard TD pass to junior TE Ravi Pradahang (William & Mary), and Hill's run for a 2-point conversion.

Simms finishes 19-of-37 for 165 yards, while junior DE Justin Trattou (Florida) makes 13 tackles, junior LB Ike Garrow adds 16.

The Ironmen also include WR/DB Brian Callahan (Monmouth), LB Ken Mahoney (Fordham), WR/P Jack Daniels (Monmouth), LB Gerald Ford (Iona), junior DE Sam Griffin (Cincinnati), junior DT Dan Marcoux (Akron).

Griffin runs for 94 yards, while adding 75 yards on returns. Hill leads on defense with 7 tackles. The Marauders also include DE Rich Hussey (Georgetown), OL Kevin Scherba (Iona), CB Frank Saile (Rhode Island), junior LB Will Thompson (Boston College), junior RB Sharrif Harris (Pitt), junior LB Joe Valenti (Monmouth).
