Game Notes

Wrightstown Tigers storm by Mayville in the 2nd half, leaving nothing to chance in a 41-23 win, capping a perfect season.

The Tigers overcome a key goalline stand stop, badly blown call/TD, and a 23-13 deficit to capture their state title as Stephan Williams runs for 198 yards, 3 TDs and makes a key interception.

The Cardinals have the answers in the 1st half, rallying each time Wrightstown scores. The 2nd one comes with controversy as Tyson Apfelbeck catches Matt Haass' pass at the 1-yard line and goes out of bounds at the 1, without extending the ball towards the goalline, but it is ruled a TD. Haass, who throws for 2 TDs, adds a 2-yard TD run for 20-13 lead at halftime.

The Mayville defense stops the Tigers on 4th-and-goal from the 1 as well. Cale Moyle's 23-yard FG capping a long drive to start the 2nd half gives the Cardinals a 10-point lead. But momentum changes on the next play as Williams breaks free for a 77-yard TD.

Williams gives Wrightstown the lead with a 4-yard TD. After the Tigers extend the lead to 34-23, Williams seals the outcome intercepting Haass, and then following up with a 3-yard TD run.
