Franklin Regional Panthers overpower Thomas Jefferson 31-14 for their 1st WPIAL championship.

Despite losing standout QB/S Brad Phillips (Northwestern) to an injury in the 2nd quarter, Franklin Regional rallies to dominate the Jaguars. Backup QB Lenny Gallo comes in breaks free for 47-yard run on his 1st series, setting up Robby Armstrong (Cincinnati) for a 9-yard TD run and 10-7 lead. Then Gallo hits Justin Malego with a 36-yard TD following the 1st of 3 INTs by TJ quarterback Kevin Franz.

The Panthers extend the lead to 24-7 with a end-around receiver pass from Mike Schilling to Dino Tortorice for a 45-yard TD. Then Matt Giugliano returns an INT 51 yards for a 31-7 lead.

Armstrong runs for 147 yards on 25 carries, running behind junior OT A.J. Strum (Ohio) and G/DT John Malecki (Pitt).
