Game Notes

Upper St. Clair Panthers make a championship-winning drive to rally by Penn Hills 18-12.

The Panthers face a 12-10 deficit despite dominating the 2nd half when the Indians' Teddy Blakeman scores on an 8-yard run w/ 5:48 left in the game. However, Upper St. Clair responds by driving 59 yards in 11 plays, before RB/LB Dane Conwell (Indiana) bulls into the end zone for a 10-yard TD w/ :59 remaining. Conwell carries 29 times for 113 yards. Pat McShane hits TE/DE David Shine (Richmond) for a 2-point play following the score.

Penn Hills had managed to rally for almost 2 quarters of domination when sophomore Tom Fulton connects with Eric Taylor on a 54-yard pass, and RB/LB Aaron Williams (Akron) runs over several defenders to set up a 1st-and-goal. Williams is held down to 46 yards rushing.

Fulton and Taylor had hooked up on a 6-yard TD giving Penn Hills the 1st lead. Fulton goes 11-of-22 for 142 yards.

However, Upper St. Clair takes over, responding on the ensuing possession when McShane hits Taylor Everett with a 5-yard TD pass. The Panthers extend the lead to 10-6 with Alex Romanis' 22-yard FG just before halftime.

Penn Hills also includes CB Andre Freeman (Hofstra) and DE Joe Rash (Akron).
