Game Notes

Lions give back what the Vikings' defense tried to give away, as Minnesota survives 28-27.

After the Vikings go up 28-21, Minnesota's defense lays down letting Joey Harrington lead Detroit 80 yards in 1:37, going 6-of-7 (not counting spikes) for the potential tying TD with :12 left. However, a bad snap causes the Lions to botch the snap and rescue the Vikings from a pathetic defensive collapse.

Minnesota rides a hot combo of Daunte Culpepper-to-Nate Burleson. Culpepper throws for 404 yards and 3 TDs. Burleson catches 5 for 134 yards and 2 TDs, including a 37-yard catch, sprint and tip-toe down the sidelines.

Harrington throws for 361 yards and 2 TDs, but also gives up 2 interceptions, along with a fumble by Kevin Jones.
