Dallas manhandles Detroit in achieving its best start to a season. The Lions' offense struggles so much, that it has just 2 first downs until getting its 3rd with just 8:37 left in the game and trailing by 37 points.

Meanwhile, Efren Herrera nails 3 FGs, and Roger Staubach tosses 3 TD passes before departing with a thigh injury in the 3rd quarter. After Herrera stakes Dallas to a 6-0 lead with a pair of FGs, Staubach finds Billy Joe Dupree for a 15-yard TD pass. He adds an 18-yard TD pass to Scott Laidlaw, and Herrera caps a dominating 1st half with a 30-yard FG w/ :03 left.

Staubach's 1-yard TD toss to Jay Saldi in the 3rd quarter completes his day. Larry Brinson adds a 20-yard TD run in the 4th quarter.
