Game Notes

Giants stay hot, beat the sinking Saints 24-14 on MNF.

New York improves its league best record to 11-3 with its trademark ball control and defense. After building a 17-7 lead, the Giants put the game away with a punt return for a TD, and 4th-quarter INTs by Jesse Armstead and Willie Beamon. The big defensive effort is fitting in Lawrence Taylor's final MNF appearance.

Phil Simms, playing in his last MNF game, contributes, hitting Mark Jackson with a 14-yard TD pass w/ 4:45 left in the 1st quarter, and then finding Howard Cross for a 17-yard TD midway through the 2nd quarter.

The Saints creep back into the game on Brad Muster's 1-yard TD run late in the 1st half, but the New Orleans offense sputters until the closing minutes of the game, dropping their 7th game in 9.
