Game Notes

Never has a team done so little on offense and won a playoff game, yet Redskins win 17-10 despite almost going backwards on offense.

Washington relies on big plays from its defense and squeezes out enough points from the opportunities.

After LaVar Arrington's interception and return to the 6-yard line, Clinton Portis scores on the next play for a 7-0 lead. Then Sean Taylor scores on a 51-yard fumble return in the first half (later he's ejected for being an idiot and spitting in a player's face).

Those 2 easy scores, and a FG are enough despite Washington gaining just 120 yards the entire game. The Redskins' defense is strong holding the Bucs to 243 yards, and forcing 3 turnovers and 3 sacks.

Mark Brunell throws for just 41 yards. Meanwhile, Chris Simms is 25-of-38 for 198 yards but 2 interceptions. Simms' 2-yard TD run in the 3rd quarter gets Tampa Bay to within 17-10, but Simms and the Bucs can't close the gap.
