Hi! My name is Courtney, I am 26, and I live in Fulton, New York.

The background pic is a portrait that artist Chad Savage did of me (this is actually in color, you can see the color version below), but when I tried to put it in color on this page it was WAY too busy so I b&w'd it, see his and other artwork I love at: Artwork

My Horror Background:

As you can probably guess by now, I am passionate about horror movies. Being a female fan of horror movies growing up, I found it difficult to discuss these movies with very many girls. The only people I ever had to talk to about horror movies (besides my friend Mary) were boyfriends. Once I wrote a letter to Fangoria magazine speaking of this problem, they published it, and I had over a hundred responses! Because there were so many responses, I was overwhelmed and had to discontinue contact with many of them due to postage and writer's cramp!! The people (yes, people, males did end up responding as well, which I didn't mind really...there were only a few wierdos, which are fun to read anyway!) that I did continue to write (I think about 10-20 people was what I could afford at the time) eventually stopped writing me, except for one, a male! His name is Stephen Romano , and he's very dear to me. Well, a couple of years after my letter was published, a girl named Becky (better known as Raven ) found the old issue I was in and decided to write me. We are now best friends. It's hard to see each other, becuase she lives 3 hours away, but we still constantly write and talk on the phone.

Anyways, back to the history of how I got into horror movies. I think it's a feeling that has always been there for me. My mother has always loved horror movies as well as her mother. When I was very young my mother showed me a lot of horror movies. The first gory movie I ever saw was John Carpenter's The Thing, when I was about 6 or 7 years old. Although my mother does love later horror movies, her passion is older B movies; Roger Corman, William Castle, and anything with Vincent Price in it to name but a few. Anyway, I immediatly fell in love with The Thing. I then discovered Tom Savini, when Day of the Dead came out. By that time I was already an avid subscriber of Fangoria magazine. I had rented that old Scream Greats Fango video featuring Tom Savini, and watched it over and over again. Tom became my first idol. At that age, I could think of nothing else but being a special effects wizard. If you go to the Phantom of the Paradise page, you'll read all about how important that movie is to me. As far as all the other movies on my page, they are all very special to me. Probably the movies I still watch the most are Phantom of the Paradise, The Thing, Day of the Dead, Evil Dead and The Fog. I still watch all the movies a lot, but those five are on top. Also, in case it isn't too obvious, I LOVE ZOMBIES! Most of my friends love vampires. My favorite movie monsters are zombies, and always have been.
