de Kameel
Loeff Berchmakerstraat 34
Nice down-to-earth bar with friendly service and mostly Rolling
Stones music. Its decorations include a pair of camel-humps, in
honor of its name.

de Karseboom
Mariaplaats
A five-minute visit is already too much for this place. After the
trouble of getting in (you are not allowed to wear a baseball-cap,
but a motorped-helmet will make you popular), you will find yourself
among a crowd of 14-15 year old high school students. Not exactly
our idea of having a good time. Check out the sign next to the
entrance and you'll get what we mean.

de Kijker
Lange Jansstraat 16
Large fashionable bar and restaurant. Popular place for large
groups to have dinner, although quite expensive. Often either
packed to the roof or (for no apparent reason) very quiet.

theater Kikker
Ganzenmarkt 14
Only opens when there is a theatre performance or concert. To get to
the cafe, follow the hallway all the way to the back then turn
left. Alternative and semi-artistic audience; wear black and look
depressed if you want to fit in. Usually not very crowded (even on
weekends) and a large terrace cornered between four-storey
buildings. Currently closed for construction.

King Arthur
Oudegracht 101
Claims to be an English Pub, but was probably exiled for their lack
of style. The tacky interior is stuffed with beer paraphernalia,
imitation antiques and dark-red velvet. Waiters wear shirts you'd
expect to find in a bowling alley. On the upside, however, they sell
weird beers from all around the world and have Guinness on draught.

de Kneus
Nobelstraat 303
Do not go here if you like good conversations. You should only
drink beer and try to be heard by the incrowd consisting mainly of
veterinary students and (ice) hockey players.

de Knipoog
Lange Jansstraat 28
A modest cafe that also serves extremely fine foods. Rather small,
but not stuffed. Drafty entrance. Check out the cute waitress with
the disarming smile.

Koningslust
Bollenhofsestraat 2
Used to be the place to go if you wanted to achieve a greater
insight in the habits and daily lifes of the locals. You can no
longer hear them scream
profanities
and enjoy them singing typicaln Amsterdam songs (mostly by Andre
Hazes, Tante Leen and Willy Alberti)n in their inimitable Utrecht
accent, because the it has recently beenn transformed into a very
neat and proper `
eetcafe'.
