Houston Chronicle Article writen by Ken Hoffman WWF Tough Enough pits 13 contestants (eight men, five women) in a weekly struggle to endure headlocks and atomic skull crushers, with two survivors winning contracts to become real-life WWF wrestling superstars. The show airs at 9 p.m. Wednesdays on MTV. The premiere of Tough Enough was last week's No. 1-rated show on cable. It will run for 12 more weeks. One of the contestants is 21-year-old Nidia Guenard, a Dobie High School graduate and current exotic dancer. Guenard isn't allowed to say if she ultimately wins a WWF contract, but I've seen an advance tape of Week 3, and she's still around. It's easy to pick her out. All the contestants have their tongues hanging with exhaustion. Nidia's is the one that's pierced. "I've always wanted to become a wrestler, and this was a great opportunity to see if I have what it takes," she said. "I'm a huge fan of wrestling. I go to the matches whenever the WWF comes to Houston or Austin or even Dallas. I find out where the wrestlers are eating or working out, and I go hang out with them. "My favorite wrestler is Jeff Hardy. I love Jeff Hardy." All 13 contestants live in the same house and train under the watchful, slightly sadistic eyes of pro wrestlers Al Snow, Tori, Tazz and Jacqueline. Occasionally other WWF stars such as Stone Cold Steve Austin, Hunter Hearst Helmsley and Mick Foley dropped by to deliver some words of inspiration -- and a few kicks to the contestants' kidneys. "This was the toughest thing I've ever done in my life. I went to bed sore every night. Before this, the only sport I ever did was marching band," she said.
