Smack Down your Vote with Al 2000-2002

Al and Smack Down your Vote Rally and Reception

October 2,2000-With more than 105,000 people registering to vote and 32,000 signatures on the "Smackdown Challenge" petition, the World Wrestling Federation and its partners have a lot to celebrate. But until the presidential candidates reach out to young voters and Federation fans, the work is not yet done.

With that in mind, the organizations that are participating in the "Smackdown Your Vote!" campaign will be conducting a rally this afternoon at Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. At the rally -- to be attended by Mick Foley, Matt and Jeff Hardy, Lita and Al Snow -- the Federation and its partners will be celebrating their accomplishments and reiterating their message.

The participating "Smackdown Your Vote!" organizations have called for a youth presidential debate on Oct. 17, and to have to candidates appear on SmackDown!, the Federation's weekly network television show, which airs Thursdays at 8 p.m./7 p.m. CT on UPN.

The rally is an opportunity to demonstrate to the candidates that the Federation, its partners and its fans are serious about having them reach out to young voters. It's completely open to the public -- in fact, the more people that attend the better! So if you live in the Washington, D.C. area, attend school there, or are in town to see that night's RAW IS WAR at the MCI Center, show up at Capitol Hill by noon this Monday!

WASHINGTON -- Sept. 29, 2000-- Youth Vote 2000 and WWFE are challenging the political establishment to do a better job in reaching out to young voters in the 2000 election by calling on the presidential candidates to hold a youth debate in St. Louis on October 17. The WWF issued the SMACKDOWN CHALLENGE on August 30, an invitation to candidates George Bush and Al Gore to appear with Gov. Jesse Ventura on WWF SMACKDOWN! to speak directly to young voters and WWF fans.

The Rock will take on Capitol Hill, joining WWF Superstars Mick Foley, Al Snow, Lita and The Hardy Boyz at the SMACKDOWN YOUR VOTE! rally at noon on the east lawn of the Capitol on Monday, October 2.

The rally will take place on the East Front Lawn of the Capitol (House side), near the corner of First Street, SE and Independence Avenue, SE. Voter registration will be held at the rally location from 10:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The media and public are invited to attend.

SMACKDOWN YOUR VOTE! is a non-partisan voter registration drive sponsored by the National Association of Secretaries of State (NASS), Project Vote Smart, Youth Vote 2000, MTV's Choose or Loose and World Wrestling Federation Entertainment, Inc.
