Here is the bee hive. Where are the bees? (make a fist) They’re hiding away so nobody sees. Soon they’re coming creeping out of their hive, 1,2,3,4,5. Buzz-z-z-z-z-z-z. (draw fingers out of fist on each count.)
Materials: (for one project) red, white, and blue tempera paint, sheet of 9”x12” black construction paper, 3 plastic spray bottles, newspapers, water. Preparation Hints: 1 Collect spray bottles and newspaper. 2 slightly dilute each color of paint and place in a spray bottle. Student Steps: 1 Cover your work surface with newspaper. 2 Place the black construction paper on top of the newspaper. 3 Spray each color of paint on the paper. Finishing Touches: Display these festive 4th of July paintings on a bulletin board titled “Happy Red, White, and Blue!” (Craft)
Materials:(for one) 1/4 of an 8” tagboard cirle, 1/4 of a 6” red tissue paper circle. 5 to 10 watermelon seeds, light green marker, glue. Preparation Hints: Serve watermelon and have children save the seeds, or purchase the needed amount. cut out tagboard and tissuepaper circles, then cut into fourths. Student Steps: Color the tagboard with a light green marker. Glue the red tissue-paper pieces to the tagboard pieces. glue watermelon seeds to the tissue-paper pieces and allow to dry. Finishing Touches: Display the watermelon slices around the edge of a bulletin board for a refreshing boarder. (Craft)
