28.  SALVATION FORMULA: ONE WAY TO BECOME A CHRISTIAN

By

PROF. RICHARD G. BENEFIELD

WF + C + B = S

Mathematical certainity of salvation is possible.

This writing is produced so a person can find true salvation.  People ought to
know.

Church denominations for the most part, cults, and religions have thoroughly
confused, botched, and messed up what the Bible teaches about salvation.  Many people
want to be saved but do not know how to be saved.  Being saved, and being a Christian,
mean the same thing.  Furthermore many people want to find salvation, but find various
religious things, but not the Written Word of God way to salvation.

Amos, an Old Testament prophet wrote about the difficulty in finding the Word of
God in the future.  “And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the
east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the Lord, and shall not find it.” - Amos
8:12.  (Beware of counterfeits).  People need the real Bible in order to read it, and find the
way to become a real Christian.  They can see that religion is not salvation.  Religion is all
over the place.  But genuine salvation as taught in the real Bible is not easy to find among
the maze of religions, and competing church denominations and cults.

Holy Scriptures do not use sweet words or church denominational jingo, but
words from God.

Salvation has a formula which is in the Bible.  This formula is in Romans 10:8-10.
“The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith,
which we preach; That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt
believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.”
(Written by the Apostle Paul).  Formulated:  The Word (God’s Written Word, the Holy
Bible, W, and Faith, F, (very strong belief; dedicated belief), and Confessing, C, the Lord
Jesus, and Believe, B, in Christ alone to be saved.  Hence, the formula!  WF + C + B = S.
This is mathematically certain.

When a person follows this Apostolic formula for salvation, then he or she is
saved, and is a Christian.  The new birth has occured.  At the time of salvation the Holy
Spirit baptizes the person into THE CHURCH.  “For by one Spirit are we all baptized into
one body.”  (Apostle Paul - 1 Corinthians 12:13.  THE CHURCH is the “Spiritual Body
of Christ.”  THE CHURCH consists of Christians in the past, and present; and those
people who become Christians in the future will be part of this CHURCH.

Christ is the HEAD OF THE CHURCH.  The Apostle Paul wrote about Christ,
and stated that, “he is the head of the body, the church ....” - Colossians 1:18.  THE
CHURCH is not a man-made institution or a woman-made institution.  She is not an
institutional Church.  Many institutional churches were started and died out.  Today there
are literally thousands of institutional church denominations, cults, and onlyistic church
groups.  Many of these institutional organizations claim to be THE CHURCH.  But not
one is THE CHURCH.  Neither are all of these contradictory, and changing institutions
different branches of THE CHURCH.  These institutions are not parts of THE CHURCH.
Eventually all of these institutional churches, cults, and onlyistic church groups will no
longer exist.  But THE CHURCH is forever!  All real Christians have everlasting life in
Christ, and are in THE CHURCH.  Their names are written in the Lamb’s (Christ’s) Book
of Life.  Read Revelation 21:27.  This is the only place, the only membership roll, where a
Christian’s name should be written, and recorded.

John 3:16 is the Golden Text of the Bible .  It is to you:

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that
whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting
  life.

Real Christians will live forever.

Christ is the HEAD OF THE CHURCH.  Therefore no man or woman is or can be
the HEAD of the “Spiritual Body of Christ.”  Neither does THE CHURCH have an
institutional hierarchy.  There are multitudes of religious hierarchies over multitudes of
church denominations, cults, and onlyistic church groups.  But religious hierarchies are not
Christian institutional hierarchies.  THE CHURCH never was united with a state or
government.  She never was an officially established state or government Church or
religion.  THE CHURCH never can be any of these political things.

THE CHURCH never had military armies, and never fought wars against religions
or against people.  THE CHURCH never persecuted people, and never had governments
to persecute, imprison, enslave, or execute people.  THE CHURCH never persecuted or
killed Jews.  THE CHURCH never will do or commit any of these crimes.  On the other
hand different church denominations, cults, and onlyistic church groups have committed
all of these crimes.  Institutional hierarchies and institutional church organizations, and
religions, have fought each other, killed each others’ members or followers, committed all
types of crimes and atrocities, and they continue doing these violent and evil acts.  They
are not forces for morality, but forces of immorality.

Christians should attend completely free and independent churches.  They should
realize that the buildings or places they attend are not THE CHURCH.  THE CHURCH
was previously explained.

Once a person has accepted Christ as his or her Saviour, and become a real
Christian, and a member of THE CHURCH, because the Holy Spirit baptized him or her
into that CHURCH, then the Christian should be baptized in water.

New Testament Christian water baptism is always by immersion in the name of the
Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit (Holy Ghost).  Christ was baptized in water, but not
to be saved, but to set the example for Christians.  Christ was and is the Saviour.  Read
Matthew 3:13-17.  Water baptism shows that a Christian follows Christ.  (There is no
sacramental salvation).  Christ taught His disciples (followers):

Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the
Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. - Matthew 28:19.

This is Christ’s “Great Commission” to real Christians, to THE CHURCH.  It continues
today.

A Christian is saved now!  Saved from the power of death, and saved from any
type of punishment.  Each Christian has life in Christ the Saviour now!  Moreover, a
Christian can know that he or she is saved now.  The New Testament says, “And this is
the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.  He that hath
the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.” - Apostle John, 1
John 5:11-12.  The Apostle John wrote, “We know that we have passed from death unto
life, because we love the brethren.” - 1 John 3:14.  A born again Christian must not hate
anyone, neither men nor women.  Jesus said, “By this shall all men know that ye are my
disciples, if ye have love one to another.” - John 13:35.  A Christian does not hate races of
people or ethnic groups, but genuinely loves all people, by the help and grace of God
through Jesus Christ.  So you need not wonder if you are a saved Christian.  The Bible
gives you the sure formula for salvation.  So follow it!

A Christian is a person who has been born again.  This Christian has the new birth
in Jesus Christ.  Read John 3:1-7.  The “new birth” is not a code word or code term, or a
denominational, cultist, or onlyistic group term.  It is a Bible term!
Holy Scriptures teach that a person is not saved by works (doing actions or deeds).
The Apostle Paul teaches in Ephesians 2:8-9:

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that nor of yourselves:
it is the gift of God: Not of works lest any man should boast.

Furthermore a Christian is justified (made right) in Christ by faith, and not by the works of
the Law of Moses, in the Old Testament.  Read Romans 3:28; 4:1-5.  Then, Paul teaches
in Romans 5:1-2:

Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through
our Lord Jesus Christ: By whom also we have access by faith into
this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

No person can be good enough to be a real Christian.

After a person is a Christian, then he or she should read and study the Holy
Scriptures, pray, continue to have faith in God through Christ, and follow the teachings of
the New Testament.  Read the Bible for yourself.

Religion is not salvation.  Following prescriptions of church denominations, cults,
or onlyistic church groups cannot save a person.  Neither is there salvation in religions.
Only Christ can save a person, a soul.  In Christ alone there is salvation.  “Neither is there
salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men,
whereby we must be saved.” - Acts 4:12.

Depend on this promise:  “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for
ever.” - Hebrews 13:8.
