St. Joseph...My Patron Saint

St. Joseph has always and will always hold a very special place in my heart. He is my Patron Saint in baptism. I hope to emulate him and to grow in his example as a father, a worker, a protector, and a God Fearing, God Loving man!

Little is really known about St. Joseph...he is mentioned very obscurely in the Bible. In Matthew, Joseph is first mentioned in the Geneology of Jesus: "..Jacob the father of Joseph, the husband of Mary, Of her was born Jesus who is called the Messiah." Mt 1:16

Matthew goes on to describe some of the qualities of St. Joseph: "When his mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph, but before they lived together, she was found with child through the Holy Spirit. Joseph her husband, since he was a righteous man, yet unwilling to expose her to shame, decided to divorce her quietly. such was his intention when, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said: "Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary your wife into your home. For it is through the Holy Spirit that this Child has been conceived in her. She will bear a son and you are to name him Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins. All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: "Behold, the virgin shall be with child and bear a son, and they shall call Him Emmanuel" which means "God is with us". When Joseph awoke, he did as the angel of the Lord commanded him and took his wife into his home. He had no relations with her until she bore a son, and he named him Jesus." Mt 2:18-25

What an incredible man St. Joseph was and is!!! What a brave man! What a man of Faith and Love!!

Joseph had another dream, in which an angel appeared to him and told him to take the Christ Child and Mary into Egypt to flee the wicked King Herod:

"When they had departed, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream and said, "Rise and take the child and his Mother, flee into Egypt, and stay there until I tell you. Herod is going to search for the child to destroy him. Joseph arose and took the child and his mother by night and departed for Egypt. He stayed there until the death of Herod, that what the Lord had said through the prophet might be fulfilled, "Out of Egypt I called my son." Mt 2:13-15

St. Joseph was obediant to the will and calling of God. he never hesitated to follow the Lord in all he did.

May St. Joseph Bless and Protect you...you are visitor # Thank You for visiting this page!
