Greetings and salutations, this is the best place for astronomy. Together we can cruise the comsmos, visit strange new worlds and get a first hand view of the biggest mystery pleaging NASA scientist today; is there life on other planets? Are we really alone out there and no X-files has nothing to do with this page!
All the usable energy on earth has come from the sun.
When the cave men burn wood in their fires, he was releasing energy from the suns rays stored in the wood by processes of life in the tree. The sun is earth's closest star. It is 864,000 miles in diameter and weights up to 4,380,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 lbs. At the core of the sun it is estimated to be 35,000,000 degrees Fahrenheit. Outward from the core the sun is 11,000 degrees F. The reason why the sun is so hot is because it is like a giant hydrogen bomb. Gravity hold the gasses in just as it hold the Earth and all the other planets in its orbit. Planets or stars (people call it) shine because the sun reflect upon it giving it a glow we can see on in the night sky. The same is also said for the moon, it isn't made of a radiant material it also reflects the suns rays. The moon is 235,000 miles away from the Earth. |
