From catepillar to butterfly

First of all let me explain why I have a picture of a butterfly on this page. When we accept Jesus into our heart it is like changing from a catepillar to a butterfly.

Now I will share my testimony. I had been raised in a church all of my life but never accepted him into my heart. I grew up a nice kid that would do all I could to help my mom out. When I reached my teenage years I decided that I had had enough of being a mamma's girl and decide that I was going to do my own thing.

The summer of my freshman year (about four years ago) is when it started. I had decide that I wasn't going to do my homework so I wound up going to summer school to make up some credits. This is how the worst part began. I met some friends (or at least I thought they were friends) who were into Magic, Dungeons & Dragons, Ouija Board, etc. After hanging out with them I got into this stuff too.

We usually got to school about an hour early and played Magic before class. After classes we would go out partying (including drugs and alcohol), or playing a role playing game. After a while I started sneaking out to meet them for late night games of Magic or a vampire role playing game. Luckily my parents never caught me (or maybe it was unlucky).

One day I had lost all hope (as anyone without God would do) and had decided that I was going to end it all. I thought that I would be doing God a favor by ending my good for nothing life. I had decided to overdose on mom's sleeping pills. As I was about to take the pills the remote control fell on the floor. It just happened to be tuned to TBN. Fire by Nite was on and Blaine was talking about how suicide isn't the answer. He then went on to explain that Jesus could give you the courage and help to get through it and that God had a plan for each and every one of us. On that same show they showed a video by Carman who has since become my favorite singer. It was for the song witch's invitation (follow the link at the bottom of the page to see the lyrics). At the time I was into witchcraft so it caught my attention. If I had seen the video anytime before I would have been laughing at him but for some reason it seemed to make sense that day.

My junior year a friend of mine invited me to her youth group and I decided to go. I got a lot out of it and loved it. At the time I wasn't driving yet and my ride got me home late, so my parents told me that I couldn't go anymore. Shortly after that Mom had a surgery and we stopped going to church.

The fall of this year I started going to college after taking a year off. It was the second week of school and I had been looking for a bible study on campus. One day I went in to the gameroom at the college and started talking to someone. He asked me if I was a born again Christian. When I told him I was he told me about a the prayer group and bible study that he was the leader of. I love how God brings people together like that. I have gone through a lot this year and I don't know where I would be right now without them.

This April Sam Swegg came to our church. During the evening service he called out a curviture in the spine, ear infections, heart disease and a few othe things and had everyone with those come up to the alter. I had grown up with Scoliosis so I went up there. He layed hands on me and prayed for me. He had me stretch my hands in front of me with the fingertips touching. He said that someone with a curve in the spine would have one arm longer than the other. It was confirmed when I had an x-ray taken and the curve in the spine was gone. Isn't God great!!!
