The three Invaders plus the speedster known as the Whizzer ambush a Nazi hideout, in order to get some information on HYDRA. With the added help they manage to bring all the criminals to justice, and we thus switch over to the Dragon Base...
It appears that the ambush (above paragraph) was planned by Baron von Strucker himself, to test the Invaders to see if they were guarding all locations related to the Manhattan Project closley. Having a HYDRA infantry member check on von Strucker's German aid, he and three other members of the villainous organization are taken by surprise with the very aid himself, who was thought to be in shock. He dawns on a HYDRA uniform to go investigate the Dragon Base.
Meanwhile, over Texas, the Invaders fly casually over the American plain, the Whizzer discussing the importance of uranium and plutonium to 'The Bomb'. Further explaining where it's been created, the four heroes agree to head up to Washington state to keep a watchful eye on the two needed substances.
Searching around von Strucker's personal quarters, the seemingly useless aid to the Baron is caught by von Strucker himself. When the aid asks where in the world his mentor got the books -- all of them being written and published after the 1950's -- the evil leader of HYDRA explains that back in his Nazi days, in a time when Hitler wished to have super natural gods in his Reich, he and a small team of German scientists managed to get Thor, God of Thunder himself to appear through an extra-demensional teleporter. Convincing the Thunder God that the Allies were the evil ones, Thor aided the Nazi army before the Invaders took him down (The Invaders #32). But back to the teleporter -- von Strucker managed to rig it and send himself through time itself. Appearing in the 1960's, in a mysterious castle, he wandered out onto the city in amazement. Where was he? He was about to find out. Going into a local drug store, Strucker found a book rack -- history books, mainly. Opening one up, he quickly learned the fate of the Third Reich... and a whole new way, he thought, to exploit it by going by to his natural time. Stealing the books and going back to the castle he had come through, he attempted to rig the machine to send him back to where he belonged -- but was met by Victor Von Doom (Dr. Doom). Convincing him to let himself go, he winds back up in the 1940's -- with the knowledge of the future itself.
Meanwhile, back in Washington on the famous Manhattan Project ride in which the American Government transported plutonium via railway, the Baron sends his HYDRA troops to capture a very train itself -- but they didn't count on the Invaders being present. Fighting them back to the Washington docks, the secret and supplies of the Manhattan Project is indeed safe once again... but what about the next time?
And, back in the Dragon Base, Baron von Strucker tells of his plan... and immediantly shoots his young aid to death.
