'Advise' by Amirin **************************************************** "Absolutely not."  "Doctor, he's *freezing*."  "Neelix, I understand your wanting to warm him up, but another bath won't help. More than likely, that's what's responsible for his current condition."  "What did I do?"  "It's not your fault. His body is still having trouble processing incoming neurological information.  That's all."  "And what does that mean?"  "It means that the hot bath earlier confused him, physiologically speaking.  His metabolic levels have decreased to the point that his body has stopped producing heat. Another hot bath will only serve to make things worse. You'd be treating the symptom, not the ailment. What you need to do, is jump start his metabolic rate, get his body to begin acting like the furnace it should be.  Once it starts up again, he will gradually, *naturally* get warmer." "How do I do that?  Get him 'jump started'?"  "Physical exercise.  Get him up and moving, Neelix. Take him for a walk, make him clean your quarters . . . something to get his blood and body going, again."  "Maybe . . . a flight simulation?  On the holodeck?"  "That is an excellent idea, actually.  In a number of ways. He's been off duty for quite a while.  I'm confident that getting him back behind the conn would be most effective.  Not to mention welcome."  "Very well, Doctor, I'll get right on it."  "Neelix?  Make sure he leaves the safeties on. He's still not processing pain as he should, yet, either.  He could injure himself and not even be aware of it."  "Safeties on.  I understand.  I'll make sure they are.  You have my word on it."  "Very good, Neelix.  Keep me informed." "I'll do that.  Neelix out."         "Go-going somewhere?"  "*I'm* not.  *We* are.  To the holodeck.  Doctor's orders."  "You've got to be kidding me. I'm *not* getting out of this bed, Neelix.  It's freezing out there."  "You have to.  I'll help you."  "Why?" "The bath from earlier brought your metabolism to a stand-still.  Your body isn't creating heat, now, so you're cold.  We've got to, um, 'jump start' you.  According to the good Doctor."  "The holodeck?"      "Flight sims . . ."  "He cleared me for flying?"  "On the holodeck."   "With the safeties *on*, Tom."  "Lix . . ."  "Now, don't you dare argue with me. You can't feel pain properly, yet.  And I'm not about to let you turn off the safeties, until you can.  That's final."    "Okay.  Safeties on."   "Promise.  I promise.  All right?"    "All right.  Let's go." ***********************end
