Calcium-binding Proteins
2. The isolation and characterization of calmodulin-binding proteins and investigation of how these targets interact with calmodulin. Although more than 70 calmodulin-binding proteins are known, less than half of these proteins are characterized. Calmodulin is a ubiquitous calcium-binding protein which is critical for many cellular processes including memory and growth. Understanding the mechanism by which intracellular calmodulin is regulated is vital to the overall understanding of the second messenger function of calcium.

The Mexican Yam Bean
3. The promotion of the Mexican Yam Bean (Pachyrhizus erosus L. Urban) as a potential West Indian crop of economic importance. This genus Pachyrhizus is attributed with the highest production of leguminous tubers on a world basis. On a dry weight basis, the Mexican Yam Bean contains 2-4 times the protein content of other tubers such as yam and cassava.
