neil n e i l

"do you remember the mozart locomotive? that went to the test tube factory, with the corks? it was 1983!" neil, through the infinite wisdom he gains in altered states, is helping me recall the 1980s. "when they reached into your brain with tweezers and pulled out the part that had 1980 on it- where did it go? where did it go?"
neil was my savior sophomore year, when we found each other in our corners of the ml basement. talking to him for hours, into the early morning, was what i needed to get me through. and although we didn't talk for a year and a half (due to alternate semesters abroad), this year has reunited us and a friendship stronger than ever is present. it is claimed that, when he and i are together, we have conversations no one else can understand. while that's not entirely true, i like the notion. he and i relate on this wonderfully simple yet rich level. and the truly great thing? according to my marchy-told future, he and i will be together forever, in the woods, with 53 kids, a horse, and the facilities to smoke up 40 times a year.
neil and i spent this past spring break together, at his house in byfield, massachusetts. i'll put up some pictures soon. it was the most amazing spring break EVER. we were so silly, had so much fun, just revelled in being together. yet we also had great conversations, took long walks, and really bonded. i really feel like we know each other much better now. i know i can talk to him about pretty much everything. we have such a healthy, open, energetic friendship. he's really been a bright point of this year, and i love him to death. even if he goes to france next year, i know we'll stay close.
