Secrets

Welcome to my secrets page, where you can find many secrets in the game. If I do not have a secret that you do, please e-mail me about that.

The Ocarina

  • You can play the Sun's Song anytime to make it turn into night or day.
  • While playing a note, if you hold the control stick in one direction, the note will change.
  • While playing a note, if you hold L or Z, it will change pitches.
  • f you play the Song of Storms next to a gossip statue, you will get a big fairy that fills your life and magic power.
  • Anytime you want to talk to Saria, play Saria's Song.
  • After you destroy a sign, you can reconstruct it by playing Zelda's Lullaby.
  • If the Stone of Agony is shaking, sometimes playing the Song of Storms will reveal a hole.

    The Fishing Pond

  • To get the Sinking Lure: You must be a kid. Talk to the guy about the lure. Then go to the stream and run towards the water and do a front flip. This is just one of the many ways that you can get it. Its location is random.
  • There is a rumor of a Hylian Loach, a big eel. If you have a screenshot of this, send it in! If you have seen it, tell us how you saw it. You can get the guy's hat. Aim the Fishing rod at it and make it land on his hat. It will take the hat, and he will say 'Hey! What are you doing?'.

Equip the Rod outside of the pond

  • First go to the fishing pond. Equip the hover boots. Now run towards the water. You will actually be floating. Quickly come backwards while pressing the cast button. If it was done correct Link can run around with the line cast. The cameras will be messed up but make your way to the door. Now open it and walk to Lake Hylia. You will see that the fishing rod is equipped.

    The Arrows

  • Fire arrows – after you finish the water temple, play the song of sun to make it night, then wait until the sun rises. Stand on the plaque-thing on the Center Island (above the water temple itself) and use your bow & arrows to shoot at the rising sun. The Fire Arrows will drop down from the sky and land on the platform in front of you.
  • Ice arrows – To get the ice arrows, go to Gerudo’s Fortress. You must have the Gerudo’s Pass. Go to the Lady in White standing in front of the closed door. Talk to her to get inside the area. This can be pretty tough, but the prize will be ice arrows.
  • Light arrows – To get the ice arrows, you must have passed all of the Temples. Play the Prelude of light to warp to the temple of time. ‘Sheik’ will appear and after a short-story sequence, you will receive the light arrows.

    The Bottles

  • To get more that four bottles, follow these directions. First, find something that you can catch in a bottle (fish, fairy, bug). Now equip a bottle. Swing at a fairy, but before you catch it, press start and select a useless item in place of the bottle. Now when you return, you will catch the fairy, and in the start menu, it will replace the useless item you picked. DON'T SAVE IT. If you do, the items will never come back.
  • When you fight Gannondorf in his Castle, or when you fight his Phantom in the Forest Temple, you can use a bottle instead of your sword to deflect his attacks.

    Use other weapons on Epona

  • To use other weapons on Epona, you need to get rid of the Master Sword. First, you must be in the battle with Ganon. When he knocks the sword from your hands, save and reset. Open the saved file. Don’t equip your Goron Sword. Instead, call Epona in Hyrule Field. You can press different C buttons to use different Items. Use the deku nuts to get off the horse and walk her! You will not lose the Master Sword by doing this. To get it back, go to the Temple of Time and pull out the sword.
  • Do the above trick. On Epona, use the hookshot on an area where you can attach to something (ex. targets at Gerudo Fortress). You will be suspended in air.

    Deku Stick Trick

  • Ever wonder what secret the harmless little butterflies are hiding that flutter about Hyrule? As young Link, take out a stick and find some butterflies. Slowly follow them until one touches the stick which turns it into a red fairy. Use a bottle to catch it or touch it to be healed instantly.
  • There is a way to make your deku stick last. First, equip a deku stick. Now, attack something with a forward jump attack, and make sure your stick breaks in two. Link will be able to keep the stronger piece of the stick and use it whenever he wants. Of course, if you put it away you will lose it. This trick may not work, I haven’t been able to get it to work, so it may just be a rumor that I’ve heard.

    The Cucco Game

  • Before you play Talon’s super cucco game, throw all the regular cuccos right in front of the staircase, where they will be unable to move about. Then talk to talon, the super cuccos will be sticking out like sore thumbs. Also, position yourself to look down the length of the room, you should see the super cuccos landing

    The magic meter

  • After you have gotten the Goron Tonic suit, go towards the entrance of the Fire Temple in Death Mountain Crater. You will see a boulder blocking a path. Use your hammer on it and go through. Inside the tunnel a fairy will double your magic meter.
  • There is a way to use the Lens of Truth without losing an ounce of magic! I’ve been able to do this easily. Just press the c button repeatedly and don’t stop. Also, you can hold the Lens of Truth for about 3 seconds before losing any magic. Just keep pressing that c button!

    Lots of Rupees

  • There are many places where you can go to find rupees. As a child, walk up the chain on the drawbridge at the entrance to the market. Then, at the top, jump across to the other chain and hold A and forward. Of course you will land on the ground, but you will have gotten 40 rupees.
  • If you visit the house near the entrance to the market, smash the pots to reveal over 20 rupees. As an adult, you can go into the same house. But it’s a good idea to smash open only one pot in the corner of the room, which contains a red rupee.
As your name, if you type in morup, you will have unlimited money. This code will take effect once you find a gold rupee. Again, I’m not sure if this works, you’ll have to try it.
Once you find 100 gold skulltulas, you will be able to get a gold rupee from the father of the kids. The reason people say that this is a dumb trick is because they don’t know that you can get the gold rupee as many times as you want.

    Circle of stones

  • Anytime you see a circle of stones, bomb the middle of it or play the song of storms. Chances are that there will be a hidden hole there. Find ‘em all!

    Castle fun

  • In the courtyard where you meet the princess, try shooting the window to the right of Zelda with a slingshot. You will have a bomb thrown at you! If you look into the window to the left of Zelda, you will see a few characters from Super Mario! Try it.

    Broken Signs

  • You can slash a sign with your sword and the pieces will fall. I’ve managed to cut them in half, into fourths, and even diagonally (don’t ask me how). You can make the sign a sign again by playing Zelda’s Lullaby if front of it.

    Fairy Fun

  • Infinite Fairy in a Bottle when you collect your first bottle, find a fairy and catch her in the bottle. Then anytime you are in a room where you can walk off the screen get close to the exit and use your fairy while Link is looking at you (towards the screen). If done correctly (gets easier with practice) the screen will shift behind him and he'll exit while the fairy is being used, and on the next screen, you will have gained all your life back and the fairy still in reserve.

    Item Upgrades

  • How do I get the first Bullet Bag upgrade? Easy, just win the shooting game perfectly as a child.
  • How do I get the second Bullet Bag upgrade? When in the Lost Woods, go east from the starting point. You will see a big tree and a disc on a branch. Hit the disc three times in the center (you will know if you did if a number 100 comes out) and a scrub will give you the upgrade.
  • How do I get the first Deku Stick upgrade? Go to the area south of the lone Skull Kid. Beat the Scrub there and accept his offer for an upgrade.
  • How do I get the second Deku Stick upgrade? Fall into the secret pit in the bushes in the area with two Scrubs in the Lost Woods. Wear a Skull Mask and see what happens. -How do I get the second Deku Nut upgrade? Fall into the secret pit in the bushes in the area with two Scrubs in the Lost Woods. Wear a Mask of Truth and see what happens.
  • How do I get the first Bomb Bag upgrade? Just stop the big rolling Goron by laying a bomb in his path. Make sure it blows up as he rolls over it.
  • How do I get the second Bomb Bag upgrade? Just win the Bombchu Bowling game when the prize is a Bomb Bag.
  • How do I get the first Deku Nut upgrade? Blow up the rock in the Lost Woods right before the entrance to the Sacred Meadow Valley.
  • How do I get the first Quiver upgrade? Just win the Archery Game in Kakariko Village perfectly.
  • How do I get the second Quiver upgrade? Just get 1500 points on the Horseback Archery Game in Gerudo Fortress.

    Your own cow

  • After Getting Epona (see below), ride her into Lon Lon Ranch (as older Link). Talk to Marin and she will comment about you and Epona. Talk to her again to challenge her obstacle course. If you finish in under 50 seconds, Marin delivers a cow to your house!

    Getting Stuck

  • In Kakariko Village there is a room with fat woman in it who says something to the effect that dinner isn't ready yet. Just for kicks I managed to squeeze myself between the corner and the fat woman. The problem was, I couldn't get out. I pressed every button possible. It just kept saying, the woman's stupid message about dinner. I ended up having to reset the game.

    Spelling Mistake

  • This spelling error is legitimate, on the back of the box (Mine was gold edition so it may change on regular edition) there is a sentence that includes the word "enivironments." This word is misspelled. It should be "environments."

    The Sky is a Cube

  • During the daytime look at the sky. If you look close you will see the outline of a big cube with clouds texture-mapped on it. Wouldn't that fascinate Link?

    Music Going on

  • In the daytime at Gerudo's Fortress, go to Gerudo Valley then back to Gerudo's Fortress. Play the Sun's Song to make it night. The Gerudo music will still be playing! Even though if it's nighttime. To make it stop, enter the Thieves' Hideout, Gerudo Training Ground, Gerudo Valley, or the Haunted Wasteland.

    Hold 2 Masks At Once!

  • Get a mask from the Happy Mask Shop. Go to a place with a fish in a pond (Zora’s Domain, or a hole near the tree to the right of the castle – look on the map). Put the mask in the down "c" button and the bottle in the left "c" button. Put the mask on. Swing at the fish with the bottle and pause it halfway through the swing. Switch the mask with the bottle. Now you should catch a fish in the left "c" button and your mask will be gone. There is an empty bottle in your down "c" button. Go to the Happy Mask Shop and empty the fish from the left "c" bottle. Switch the two bottles that are on your "c" buttons by going to the "items" subscreen and pressing left "c" on the empty bottle (not the one in the spot where the mask used to be). Now talk to the Shop Owner and borrow a mask. It should now appear in your left "c" button. Go to the "items" subscreen and highlight the mask. Press down "c" on the mask, and it should put ANOTHER mask into your down "c" button, without getting rid of your left "c" mask! Now talk to the shop owner again and borrow a different mask. This will change the left "c" mask into any one you pick, and now you have two different masks at the same time!

    Wearing the Masks

  • If you wear the bunny mask while travelling through Hyrule Field, the skeletons won’t attack you. You will be able to borrow the mask for free if you are able to sell each of the four masks you receive.
  • Make your way through the lost woods until you reach a place with two Business Scrubs. If you walk around the place where the butterflies are hanging out, you will fall into a hole. This room had me confused for a long time! If you have a mask on, stand in front of the bush thing’s near the edge of the ledge, and a whole bunch of deku scrubs will appear. With different masks on, you will receive a different reaction from your audience.
