Letting Go

Slowly but surely
The smoke clears away.
Revealing what's left
when there is nothing left to say.

Sad indeed
it should end for us like so.
From getting so close,
to just letting go.

Looking back
but not for too long.
The scars are still fresh
though the words are long gone.

In the screen lit darkness
I cry for you so.
Just one final tear;
then I'm letting go.

Laying awake
I place you on trial.
It's hell at this moment,
yet it was heaven for awhile.

May love always find you.
Emptiness may you never know.
One last kiss of your picture;
then I'm letting go.

I may never understand
why it all comes to this.
From the best of everything, to nothing at all?
I can no longer persist.

Love and it's efforts
may attempt to comprehend.
Yet the truth, like my feelings,
have accepted the end.
