The Real Butch Cassidy aka Robert LeRoy Parker was known as "Robin Hood of the Wild West". He frequently gave money he had stolen to family's whose men were ruined or killed by bankers or cattle barons. During the years of thievery, had not killed anyone. He ran a group called the Wild Bunch where Harry Longabaugh had met up with him. Longabaugh had been arrested in Wyoming for stealing a horse and was held in a jail in Sundance. It was because of this that he picked up the name The Sundance Kid. The Wild Bunch's hide out was in Hole in the Wall near Kaycee, Wyoming. Butch and Sundance were surrounded and killed in Bolivia in 1909 after robbing a payroll shipment from a mine or so one story goes. Another theory is Butch was able to escape. Sundance had been shot up so bad, Butch gave him a bullet in the brain then left and went straight after that. He started a ranch in ?.

Butch: "My time is three-fourths done, and a few more months won't make much difference. I've got some property in Colorado that needslooking after, and I'd like to get a pardon." Governer: "If it's your intention to go straight after you get out, perhaps it could be arranged. You're still young, and smart enough to make a success in almost any line. Will you give me your word that you will quit rustling." Butch: "Can't do that, governor, because if I gave you my word I'd only have to break it. I'm in too deep now to quit the game. But I'll promise you one thing, if you give me a pardon I'll not commit any more crimes in Wyoming." The Governer was impressed with Butch's straightforwardness and believe what he said to be true.
