I have been told that this machine was manufactured by New Home around 1890. However, on the backside of the head it says, "Made in U.S.A.", On the underside of the machine it says F.S.M.Co." in gold letters. This lead me to believe that it was made by the Free Sewing Machine Company of Rockford, Illinois, established 1898.

I have also found a Franklin Sewing Machine Company in Birmingham, England and in Mason Village, NH. Florence Sewing Machine Co. in Florence MA is another company that would match the initials on the machine.
