Bon Scott was born in Kirriemuir,Scotland July 9th,1946 to Charles 'Chick' and Isa Belford.He had 3 other siblings includng Derrek,Graeme, and Valerie.The Belford's later moved from Scotland to Perth,Australia. That is where Bon started to develope a bad reputation. Boys in school threatened to beat him up because he had a Scottish accent and called him 'The Bonny Scott' (which,later he took the 'ny' off and got his legendary stage name). The young Ronald Belford didnt take notice to the boys threats. In fact he invited them because he was not about to let someone 'railroad over him'. So Bon quit school at age 14 (legal age for Australians) and started working. Bon's criminal record started to grow when he was 16. He gave a false alias to a police officer,and later stole 12 gallons of petrol.Bon spent time in a home for under aged boys who had commited crimes. He decided he would rather spend time there,than face his parents after what he did. Later that year,he was released before Christmas. When Bon was about 17,he began a musical career,well,so to speak. He was in several bands including the Spectors,The Valentines,and ( i cant remember! This is all from memory!!!! i'll have to look it up later!!!!) Oh,yeah, Fraternity. (whew!!!!! i remembered!!!!!) On January 27th,1972,Bon had a chance to settle down. On that day,he married a woman named Irene Thornton. She and Bon were together for 2 years when Bon's life took a turn fot the worse.They got into an argument because Bon was very drunk,and he took off on his motorcycle. Later on,he crashed and broke his collar bone,his jaw,both arms,and he went into a coma for three days. Later on in 1974,Bon met two brothers who were also from Scotland. Angus and Malcolm Young were looking for a new lead singer for their band,AC/DC.They didnt want to throw their lead singer out so they gave him time to get pissed and leave himself.Bon played drums until he got to steal Dave Evans' thunder. Bon had a knack for stealing the spotlight,even from the very hyper Angus Young.Bon was finally living his dream of being a rock n' roll singer.He had 5 incredible years with AC/DC. World tours,gold albums that soon turned to platinum,performing for crowds of 50,000 and more. Bon's light would soon fade after a night on the town with a friend on Febraury 19th of 1980. Bon and his friend,Alastair Kinnear,went to a bar in south London.There Bon drank over 17 double whiskies.He passed out and Alastair decided he would take him home.He placed Bon in the backseat of his car,and drove off.When Alastair got home,he was too tired,too drunk,and too sleepy to get Bon out of the car,so he left him there to get him in the morning.During the night,Bon began to vomit. He turned the wrong way in his sleep,and he choked on his vomit or asphixiated. When Alastair awoke,he went to his car. He shook Bon over and over again. He thought he was passed out of that he had overdosed, so he took Bon to a near by hospital. There,a doctor pronouced him dead. A coroner performed an autopsy. He reportedly found over a bottle and a half of whisky in Bon's stomach,and discovered that Bon already had liver damage from his binge drinking.The coroner labled it as 'Death by misadventure.' Bon's body was taken back to his home of Perth,Australia.There he was cremated and buried. Bon's life took a major toll on his bandmates and fans.AC/DC would never be the same again. Bon was only 34 when he died. In his last years,Bon always bragged that one day he would be way too big to sing for AC/DC anymore,and he'd start a solo career.He said his first solo album would be called 'Bonfire' or as he said,'When i'm a f*cking big shot,my album's gonna be called Bonfire.' Bon's dream came true,even nearly 18 years after his death.In Late 1997,AC/DC released a boxset of material never before heard.What was the box called? Bonfire. Personally,i didnt like the cover of the box because it was SUPPOSED to be Bon's tribute and the had Angus on the front with him. I think they could have had just a picture of Bon. Well,they did on the booklet inside anyway. Bon,I wasnt around when you died,but for some reason,i really miss you. Not just your voice but your attitude towards life,and everything about you. You seem a giant to the heavy metal world even though you were just a 5'6" Scotsman. You're the Grandfather of metal vocalists (ozzy's just the Godafther so naaah!').I wish you were here now. I would really have like to have met you.Your death was a tragedy but we all carried on.Just like you would have wanted us too. And for everyone out there that thinks Bon or AC/DC suck and that they're a terrible band,how come when they tour they sell out staduims and arenas,and have one of the years top grossing events,and they debut at number 1 on Billboard charts when they release an album,and they've sold over 120 million copies of every album,and the numbers increase EVERY year,and they didnt start selling albums heavily until 1985,and they're still kicking after a near 25 years???????????????? When and IF you can answer all of that,and explain that the reason why they have tons of fans world wide is because they hate them so much,they go to their concerts and buy their albums,THEN you can say they suck,okay? but until then,go f*ck off.I dont tell you that your music sucks.Keep it to yourself.
