I was surfing the web last night and I came across a site all about how great Barbie is...going on about how she is the symbol of "perfection" ...when I think of "perfection" I think about the people I love... perfect in everyway including their flaws...flaws make us human...differentiate us from others...we wouldn't be who we are if we didn't have something that set us apart from everyone else...it is the flaws in people that I adore and seeing the flaws in other people is what draws me to them...maybe it is my "flawed" thinking that makes me believe that everyone should think that way.
The message I was trying to get across with this graphic is that we as society shouldn't bring up our children to believe that Barbie is a role model...girls need to grow up knowing that they are perfect just the way they are...a little plastic doll moulded by a man trying to make his symbol of "perfection" isnt what they should strive to look or be like.
We need to STOP obsessing with weight, breast size, hair and eye colour and start working on becoming strong, educated and self- empowered.
The female body is beautiful in all different shapes and sizes...but remember it isnt the body that matters...it's the mind...
