Notes: Buster came to a stop before the turn and had to be coaxed. Then he took off again, and caught Sierra off guard and she wiped out.

Notes: Simba & Lego a little off. Buster stopped and tried to run back to the starting line, was straightened out by trail guard. What next? Jasmine had a big tangle with another team that cost her a few minutes.

Jr. ASDRA Points Race #3   January 12, 2002

Notes: Polar did great, we weighted down Sierra's sled with about 30 lbs of dog food. Rebekah had to pass two teams, and ask a homeless guy to get off the trail. Lego tore up a back left large pad. The Daily News did a big article about our family and mushing in the Valley Sports section on the front of the Sunday paper (Jan.13th).


Jr. ASDRA Points Race #4  January 26, 2002

Rebekah- 1st place  9:05  Dogs: Lego & Simba
Jasmine- 8th place  22:22  Dogs: Marcia & Jafar(L), Flash, Chica & Buzz (W)
Notes: Polar started slow and came in hard. Jasmine had a tangle in the chute at the start. Jafar
pulled back through his harness. She lost a couple minutes there. Don did a last minute switch
putting Chica in wheel because Flash and Buzz were growling at each other. Flash got tangled in the lines
and Jasmine shut down about three times to untangle him.

Aurora Jr. Championships  Feb. 2&3, 2002

Rebekah- 1st place overall. 10:47 & 9:49  Dogs: Simba & Lego

Notes: Rebekah had a pass the first day. Jasmine needed to get around a musher
the 1st day, but the musher wouldn't let her pass. She lost about 3 minutes the first day.
She was mad!!!

Jr. World Championships  Feb. 8, 9,& 10, 2002
Temp: Approx. 15-25  Trail: Fast, faster, & med. (day3)
Sierra- 13th place overall. 1:19 (2nd place on 1st day), 3:45, &    Dog: Polar Bear
Rebekah- tied for 3rd overall. 9:36, 9:13, &   Dogs: Lego & Simba
Jasmine- 6th place overall. 21:32, 21:16, &    Dogs: Marcia & Jafar(L), Chica(Dena), Flash & Buzz (W)
Notes: Polar Bear got scared on day 2 & 3, and wanted to turn around. Rebekah and Jasmine had a pass the first day.
Jasmine tipped her sled and got dragged. Tried Chica(Dena) in lead on day 3. She shut down 1 time but managed to come in in lead.

Big Lake Carnival  Feb. 16, 2002

Notes: Jasmine had a head-on pass. Nice prizes & trophies.


Jr. Eagle River Classic   Feb.23 & 24, 2002
Temp: 20-30  Trail: beautiful & fast
Sierra- 2nd place overall  1:01, 1:00  Dog: Buster
Jasmine- 3rd place overall  26:46, 26:58  Dogs: Simba & Lego(L), Chica, Flash & Buzz
Notes: Jasmine got tangled in a pass the 1st day. The girl in front of her stopped too soon,
 and her team fanned out across the trail. Her run was 6.5 miles which was pretty hard for 
Lego & Simba since they usually race 3 miles, and have been trained 4 miles most of the year.

Jr. North American    Mar. 1,2, & 3, 2002   Fairbanks, Alaska
Temp: 35, 25, 25(approx.)  Trail: soft on edges, fairly fast
Sierra- 2nd place overall  :36.2, :38.1, :39.7  Dog: Buster
Rebekah- 9th place overall  14:45, 14:41, 18:28  Dogs: Polar & Jafar(L), Chica
Jasmine- 2nd place overall  15:42, 15:06(fastest day time), 21:03  Dogs: Simba & Lego(L), Buzz & Flash(W)
Notes: Alot of kids in the 1-dog crashed and Sierra was on the edge for the first corner, she got down low and rode her sled very well. Rebekah got the old leaders, but still had respectable times, clean runs. Jasmine had one leader (Simba) burned out and looking around all three days. We had to walk Flash up to the line and put him in right before she went out because he and Buzz  want to fight. Going into the third day, she was 17 seconds out of lead and the third place racer was one second behind her.When it was over, she had made up 53 seconds on the leader, and was beat by 9 seconds by the 3rd place team. She also had two stops, one in the chute to break up a fight, and down the trail . OUR TRIP WAS SPONSORED BY: WINNERS CIRCLE 4H CLUB,  Palmer, Alaska

Notes: We gave the kids our slower, more reliable dogs due to their moving
up into the next class and first race of the year. Jafar and Maurice
did a good overtaking pass towards end of the race.

Notes: Rebekah had a clean run although Denali looked at a few wrong turns, Jasmine had to pass two teams, and had to get off her sled. Flash decided to visit on the passes.

Notes: Rebekah had 3 clean runs, Denali & Buster don't have the top-end speed for fast trails.
 Jasmine had a 2 minute tangle the first day.

Notes: Both girls had the fastest day time on day 1. The trail was extremely fast and
 Jasmine wiped out once, Rebekah lost her team on day 2, but by some miricle the hook fell
 out and stopped her team, and she was able to continue!

2000 Jr. North American Championships  March 3, 4, 5, 2000

Notes: Sierra really surprised us holding on while a few other kids wiped out.
 She is 3 years old and also won the youngest musher award. Rebekah had three clean runs.
 Jasmine had a really bad first day drawing number one, but had to go out directly behind 
the last 4 dog musher. She caught up to a couple 4 dog teams and had a bad tangle with the 
second one, about 5 minutes. Her last two days she had good times.
