Phoenix Blaze was born on Katina to two very loyal officers of the Katina Air Defense Corps. Blaze grew up in a military family and joined the KADC(Katina Air Defence Corps) at the age of 15. Despite his age, he progressed through the ranks, and at only 16 was the Captain, second-in-command only to Bill Gray, who recommended him to Fox McCloud. Blaze met Ratner Sly in a bar on Corneria, shortly before Sly's defection from the Venomian Forces to Star Fox. Although it would be another few months before his joining the Star Fox Team which consists of: Fox McCloud, Falco Lombardi, Slippy Toad, Peppy Hare, Fara Phoenix, Ratner Sly and Avia Flyr.

Phoenix Blaze is a good all around pilot with a good social life. He has made quick friends with many of the Star Fox team members, and his skills with electronics and computers rivals Slippy's (but nowhere near Sly's) and his piloting skills are an even match for Peppy.
