m. (2) 21 Dec. 1876 - Mary APGAR b. 1831 d.1916 - New Germantown (now Oldwick), Hunterdon Co., N.J.
John C. was a carriage builder, blacksmith, wheelwright, coffin builder and town undertaker.
The family story goes that John C. BIEBIGHEISER came to the U.S. from Germany ca. 1848 - 1850. It is believed that he may have come over with a brother whose name is unknown. Their father may have also possibly came over with them. It is also believed that John C. and his brother went “out west” possibly to Detroit, Michigan ( Oakland Co.) or “there abouts”. However John C. did not care for it and went back east to New Jersey.
No one seems to know for sure what the C in John C. BIEBIGHEISER stands for. Some say Calvin, some say Caspar or Casper and my father told me it stood for Christian.
John C. BIEBIGHEISER and his wives are buried in New Germantown( now Oldwick), N.J. in a cemetery located at the end of Joliet St.
John C. BIEBIGHEISER & his first wife Catherine had 2 children:
