Stateline, Nevada - John Elway announces his retirement. He has no second thoughts about leaving the Denver Broncos, after 148 victories, more than any other NFL quarterback. Elway plans to keep involved in football, maybe with mangagement, etc. But right now he is just concentrating on golf.

Mighty Duck's Teemu Selanne, the top goal scorer in the NHL last season, got in a head-on crash during an auto racing practice session. Luckily for him, Selanne was not injured. Practicing fo ra rally, the hockey star was traveling at about 90 mph on a narrow gravel road when he hit a slow-moving car.
