What's Been Happening

In the past I attended beading workshops by artists Joyce Scott and Eleanor Lux. I also attended a felting workshop taught by Lisa Klakulak, which was really fun. Now most of the workshops I attend have to do with art in the schools and classroom management!

The earrings on my home page were designed after Joyce Scott's workshop. The necklace at the bottom of this page was inspired by things I saw in Eleanor Lux's workshop. As soon as I get them photographed professionally, I'll be able to add photos of the felted scarf and mittens I did in Lisa's workshop.

More patterns

These patterns are all for peyote stitch. The "flag" pattern below, I have not worked. I used a portion of the daisy bracelet in a sampler bracelet I designed when learning the peyote stitch. I also made an entire bracelet using the pattern. The daisy petals do require you to increase/decrease, of course. Do this by simply using two beads instead of one at the end or beginning of the row. I have used the third pattern several times. It makes a more delicate bracelet with just four rows when using 10/0 or 11/0 beads than the patterns that have 6 rows.

Usually I prefer to work with metallic, iris, or transparent beads, because I like the shimmer. I think the flag pattern is more suited for opaque beads, probably size 11/0.

Repeat the pattern as needed to achieve the desired length. Add a barrel clasp for closure, tapering the beginning and ending of the bracelet for a more finished look, as indicated on the third bracelet.
