John Winston Lennon was born October 9, 1940 in Liverpool, England, to Julia Stanley, a wild, free spirited redhead, and Alfred (Freddie) Lennon, a down-to-earth want-to-be-actor. His father was a cook on a ship when John was born, and didn't come back to Liverpool until John was four. At that point he tried to convince John to come with him to sail the Atlantic Ocean. John decided to stay in Liverpool with his mother, but she soon gave him over to her sister, Mary Elizabeth Smith (Mimi), and Mimi's husband, George Smith. Mimi was very strict, but John had his mother's rebellious spirit, wich could not be affected by Mimi's ways. John was the wildest child at school, and was rebellious from the first day. In tine, rock and roll started coming out. John loved it. He would go to his mother's house with his friends and listen to it all day. In time he asked his Aunt Mimi to buy him a guitar, pestering her until she gave in and bought him one, still insisting: "The guitar's alright for a hobby, John, but you'll never make a living out of it". John certianly proved her wrong. In 1957 he formed a skiffle group called "The Quarry Men" because all the members went to Quarrybank Grammar School. The band later changed it's name to "The Beatles". Basic Information Birthdate: October 9th, 1940 Birthplace: Liverpool, England Hair: Light Brown Eyes: Brown Hight: 5'11" Weight: 159 lbs.
