Singing Wolf's Guest Gallery July 1999 New Technique Swap Gallery

Take a look at what my friends have done! This gallery is dedicated to the "New Swap" where everyone who joined in had to learn a new stitch or a new variation on a familiar technique to enter.
I will be adding a link page so you can get to the home pages of these talented ladies.
Title To From Stitch General Information
Ewe Bag Bette Deborah Square This bag was Deb's first attempt at both square stitch and branching fringe. The design is a modified pattern from one of the Vanessa-Ann Cross Stitch collection books.
Beaded Bottle Rosalie Kathy Peyote This is Kathy's first attempt at peyote stitching around a form. *grin* This item came in within a week of me announcing the swap on Beads In Fashion...
Snowflakes Pam Bette Behrly Lace When it came to this swap, Bette didn't hold back. Not only did she do a new technique, she came up with a whole new stitch!! So.....when does the book come out, huh??
Granny Finds Gaud Lisa Becka Bead Crochet Nope, will *not* be attempting this again...no how, no way...well.... maybe.
Helix Bracelet Shelly Marilou Triple Helix This lovely bracelet was done using instructions from the BeadAholic Quarterly. It was going to be a necklace....but she ran out of beads.
Dutch Spiral Emily Shelly Dutch Spiral Shelly says that this is her first recognizable dutch spiral...and that she never would have persevered on it without the swap as an incentive.
Uno Annette Rosalie Dutch Spiral Rosalie didn't have much to say on this piece except that it's her first dutch spiral *and* her first swap...
Needlecase Ellen Jill Tubular Peyote This was Jills first time playing with both even count tubular peyote and with the spiral rope stitch. The needlecase pattern was taken from Jennie Might's new book.
Disco Nights Marilou Emily Brick This is Emily's first Amulet bag as well as her first go at brick stitch. She made an extra long strap (56 inches!!) so it can be worn across the shoulder and worn on the hip or you can double the strap and wear it as a necklace.
Amulet Bag Deb Cheryl Herringbone Some of you may recognize this pattern from a Jewelry Crafts article by Emily Hackbarth (Oct 1998). Cheryl also included some extra seed beads and accent beads incase the lucky swapper wants matching earrings!
Flower Necklace Kathy Tracy Polygon Weave Tracy learned this stitch from Valerie Hector's instructions in the Winter 97 Ornament mag. She says that it is an African stitch that is sort of a cross between the African Helix and the African Herringbone...and is easier than either of them. The flowers were a last minute addition taken from the "In My Garden" from the most current Beads and Buttons.
Ze Bears on Parade Tracy Ellen Wrapped loops & rosette aplique Ellen was having trouble making decent loops on head or eye pins so she tried wrapped loops. Since this wasn't a bead "stitch" she also sent in a rosette that she beaded on card stock. The pattern is an Apache design. Ellen also included a pin back for the rosette, but it would also make a lovely barrette.
Key Pouch Kathy
aka
Moondreams
Kate Two Drop Peyote Unfortunately, the pattern on this little minipouch did not come out well on the scan...but it is a key hole and the keys are hanging from the fringe. Kate aka Beadi, is the youngest member of our swap.
Protest Jill Pam Flat Right Angle Weave Based on the right angle weave bag in Creative Bead Weaving by Carol Wilcox-Wells. *grin* Pam's not used to sending in things that look like first tries...tried to convince me to let her do a second one and I insisted on the first. Hence the title.
Barrette Kate Annette Loom This scan does *not* do this piece justice. Iris beads, bronze beads around the cabochon, and the cabochon is polymer clay.
Donut Necklace Cheryl Kathy Net and Leather Bezel Need to clarify...This is Kathy aka Moondreams. Got two Kathies in the swap, and both have the same last initial! This stone donut is backed with leather, with a netted "cage" over it to hold it in place.
Title Becka Lisa Stitch Still waiting on this one to come in...on it's way from Australia...
