A Weight Watchers Publication Designed For Healthier Living
Keebler has Some Tips For Healthy Snacking in the 90's Today's hectic lifestyles don't always allow time for three meals a day. Often consumers leave home early, eat lunch on-the-run and have dinner late in the evening. As a result, people are snacking more. Snacking can be a healthy part of the diet, if it's planned responsibly and good food choices are made. Thanks to companies like Weight Watchers Gourmet Food Company, health-conscious consumers are making better snack choices. Weight Watchers offers a wide range of innovative better-for-you products including everything from fat-free yogurt to low-fat caramel popcorn. This new surge in better-for-yousnacking has also resulted in the evolution of some more traditional products. Crackers are one example. Once only considered a carrier of toppings at parties, or enjoyed with soup, crackers have become a popular snacking option. Today, several low-fat, fat-free and reduced sodium cracker varieties are available to consumers. "Keebler Low Fat Graham Selects ®, a full line of low fat graham crackers, have only 1.5 grams of fat per serving of eight crackers," said Roger Adams, Vice President-Marketing, Cookies & Crackers, Keebler Company. "By reducing the fat, we've taken an already beneficial snack and made it even better." In addition to graham crackers, the snack cracker, first introduced in the 1980's, has now evolved into a $1.1 billion industry. "Part of the snack cracker's appeal is its satisfying crunch, but it is baked, not fried," said Mr. Adams. "Our line of baked Munch'ems¨ snack crackers, available in flavors such as cheddar cheese, and sour cream onion, have 55% less fat than traditional potato chips." Every year the number of new reduced-fat and low-fat products increases. This trend is expected to continue giving busy consumers even more delicious and healthy snacking options in the future. |
