The crew who filmed the ancient pyramids in Egypt for Dark Side of the Moon artwork did so on the night of a full moon and they accidentally strayed into an Egyptian Army shooting range in trying to get the best angle- they were confronted by 3 officers and had to pay off the officers to avoid any trouble!
The man diving in the lake (Lake Mono, California) for Wish You Were Here had to hold his breath for a long time (about 3 minutes) so that there weren't any ripples in the water- he had to do this about 60 times!
Even though the man set on fire for Wish You Were Here was wearing an asbestos suit and wig, he was unfortunately facing the wrong way and the wind blew the flames back into his face, burning his mustache. He had to turn the other way, shaking hands with his left hand, and the photograph was reversed for the final print.
When the giant inflatable pig was launched at the Battersea Power Station for the cover of Animals, a great gust of wind broke the pig free from its ropes and it flew into the paths of incoming jets at the London Heathrow Airport. It finally landed upon a rural farmer in Kent.
Bob Geldof, the actor who played Pink in the movie "Pink Floyd The Wall", actually cut his hand on the glass in the scene of the track "One of My Turns", so it is real blood that you see!
The part in The Wall, where the operator is trying to place an international call between Mr. Floyd to Mrs. Floyd and keeps getting hung up- was not scripted. Pink Floyd actually placed a real call for this part; using a real American phone operator. All of the operator's responses were 100% genuine.
A DJ at WAQX in Syracuse, NY discovered a secret message on Side 2 of The Wall, just before "Empty Spaces", when played backwards. The message says, "Congratulations. You have just discovered the secret message. Please send your answers to Old Pink, care of the Funny Farm, Chalfont. The DJ believes this is a reference to Syd Barrett, but Pink Floyd would not comment.
The skinheads in the movie, "Pink Floyd The Wall" were real genuine skinheads from London.
On the day of shooting for the cover of A Momentary Lapse of Reason, the 800 wrought Iron hospital beds (each weighed a ton) had to be individually placed with the aid of 3 tractors, several trailers, and 30 people, but by the time they were finished and started to get ready to photograph, it began raining and all the beds had to go back into storage until another day.
