TENJOU, UTENA
Is the protagonist of the story. She is a fourteen-year-old girl. She is an eighth grader in Ohtori Academy. Her date of birth is 12/29, her zodiac is Capricorn, and her blood type is B. She likes all kinds of sports. She collects tea cups of the rose. She is good at cooking. She does not like anything that is not fair and aboveboard. It just happened that she got involved with the Duels between the Student Council lead by Touga, won a duel, and got "engaged" to Anthy. She is currently living with Anthy in a dorm. Utena wears her black uniform, a woman teacher says, by breaking the rule, but she claims it's okay because there is no rule against a girl from wearing a boy's uniform. In Japan, the black uniform is typically for men. The reason she says why she wears men's uniform is that she wants to be a prince protecting a princess, rather than a princess being protected. That's her style of life. She lost her parents when she was very young. The ring with the Rose Signet she's wearing was given from a mysterious "prince" to her back then. Voice by Kawakami Tomoko


Anthy
Is the mysterious girl called the Rose Bride. She is a fourteen-year-old girl in the eighth grade. Her date of birth is 2/29, her zodiac is Pisces, and her blood type is AB. She likes playing cards. She loves animals. She takes care of the roses in the rose graden. Her true identity is in mystery. Voice by Fuchizaki, Yuriko.

The Story Line
Shoujo Kakumei Utena, based on Chiho Saito's manga of the same title, was released in 1997 and spanned 39 episodes. The show was directed by pink shirts sporting director, Kunihiko Ikuhara, who also directed the popular Sailor Moon R , S and Super S series. The story follows the fourteen year old Utena Tenjiou, a tomboy orphan who is enrolled in the exclusive Ohtori Academy. Ohtori is a strange, strange little place, as Utena soon finds out. The Academy is ran by a mysterious organization referred to as the Ends of the World. This organization carries out its wishes by means of the Student Council, an elite group of the academy's best students and leaders. The members of the Student Council, Touga Kiryuu, Juri Arisugawa, Miki Kaoru, and Kyouichi Saionji, carry out duels in a secret fighting ground, the Rose Arena, in the hopes of winning the Rose Bride (Bara no Hana Yome) and the chance of revolutionazing the world.
