A) 390 YEARS FOR THE SINS OF ISRAEL

B) 70 YEARS FOR THE SINS OF JUDAH

C) THE 40 YEARS THAT REMAINED OF THE 70 YEARS

A) 390 YEARS OF Eze.4:5

The 390 years of Eze.4:5 represents the period of time that began from
the day Israel departed from Judah. Rehoboam was the king of united
Israel (twelve tribes plus Manasseh and Ephraim). In the days of
Rehoboam, the northern tribes (under the reign of Jeroboam), split
from the southern tribes of Judah and Benjamin under the reign of
Rehoboam. Therefore, the 390 years began when Israel departed
from Judah and served idols. The 390 years ended when Cyrus king
of Persia defeated Babylon and freed all captives.

B) 70 YEARS OF Jer.25:11,12

The 70 year prophecy was how long the people of Jerusalem would
serve the king of Babylon. The kingdom of Babylon was overthrown
by the Medes/Persians under the reign of Cyrus the great, ending the
70 year prophecy. Therefore, when Nebuchadnezzar took control of
the city of Jerusalem in 2Kin.24:1 and in 2Chr.36:6, God foretold that
the people of Jerusalem and Judea would serve the kingdom of Babylon
until the 70 years are fulfilled.

C) 40 YEARS OF Eze.4:6

Ezekiel was to lie upon his right side for 40 days which symbolized 40
years. The 40 days represented the remainder of the 70 years of
Jer.25:11,12. 30 years had already passed of the 70 year prophecy
when Babylon destroyed the city and temple. Therefore, there remained
40 years of the 70 year prophecy. The 70 years began when Babylon
took control of Jerusalem. Ezekiel was deported in the second invasion,
see 2Kin.24:15; Eze.1:1,2. The 40 years ended when Babylon was
overthrown by Cyrus.
